Personal counseling examines personal characteristics, abilities, preferred activities, values, scholastic and vocational preferences, suitable work environment and more. This clarifying examination takes place employing oral and written questions, as part of a continuous personal dialogue and constant feedback. From these components, those elements which are most meaningful to an individual emerge, based, as they are, on that individual's personality and inclinations. These foundations direct to various professions suitable to the criteria defined. Consequently, those professions are thoroughly investigated with the intention of narrowing down the number of the most suited, possible professions.
The process ends with the writing of a practical work plan for implementing the decisions, which provides a sense of clarity and satisfaction regarding the choice made.
Allow me to relate a true, short story:
A friend, a veteran oleh from the United States, told me that as he was nearing the end of high school, he and his friends took evaluation tests to determine their suitability to various professions. At the end of the process, each student received a bundle of pages explaining which vocation was most suited to him/her and why. This friend, who studied theater and biology for his B.A. and dentistry for his Ph.D, told me that to this day he is satisfied with his work as a dentist and as an actor in amateur theater, yet the vocation found most suitable for him at the time was the director of a funeral parlor…
The counseling at Bchira Tova is designed in a way that makes it impossible to reach results that are unrelated to the client's personality and inclinations. The methodology is based on partnering with the clients at all stages and providing them with the ability to personally examine their occupational choices, even further ahead in their career.
